Thank you for your interest and welcome to the Department of Neurology! When I arrived at the Miller School of Medicine in April of 2007, the institution was teeming with energy and enthusiasm as we embarked on a path of unprecedented growth in the areas of patient care, research, and medical education.
Our mission is to provide the highest quality care for our patients with neurological disorders in Florida and beyond, to conduct groundbreaking innovative research that leads to better treatment of our patients, and to train the next generation of clinicians and academic neurologists. I am very proud to say that the vitality and excitement of a new era, the hard work of our faculty and staff, and a rich tradition of academic excellence, continue to fuel our mission.
Through interdisciplinary collaborations with neurosurgeons, radiologists, geneticists, and other disciplines, we provide compassionate quality care for complex neurological disorders and seek better treatment and prevention mechanisms through cutting-edge research. Our diverse faculty is also committed to providing outstanding training to the next generation of neurology physicians and scientists with one of the largest training programs in the country across our three hospitals (Jackson Memorial Hospital, University of Miami Hospital, and the VA Health System).
Together with Neurosurgery, we are ranked 33rd in the country by US News and World Reports and our department ranked #9 in NIH funding in 2010. Whether you are a patient, a referring physician, a researcher, or a future resident, I would like to welcome you once more and invite you to learn more about our outstanding department of neurology.
